At Streamline Shipping Group, 2025 has been a year defined by operational delivery, innovation and continued support for the communities we serve across Scotland’s mainland and islands.
From complex event logistics and pioneering drone trials to healthcare and community support, our teams have applied the same standards of care, reliability and expertise to every project, large or small.
Supporting Major Events Across Scotland
July was certainly our busiest month in 2025, with Streamline supporting two major events within just days of each other.
And first up, was the Tall Ship Races 2025. During this four-day event that transformed the Port of Aberdeen’s North Harbour in a vibrant festival of food, culture and community, we were incredibly proud to act as Regent and Blaikies Quay Sponsor. The event proved to be a huge success with all who visited and took part, with the city welcoming around 50 tall ships and an estimated 400,000 visitors.
However, shortly afterwards, our team was once again in the thick of things, delivering logistics support as the Official Logistics Partner for the Orkney Island Games – the largest event ever hosted on the islands to mark the 40th anniversary of the International Island Games. Again the event was a major succuss, bringing together athletes from 24 island communities worldwide.
“Being involved in two major events so close together was a real highlight for us. It showcased the strength of our people and our ability to deliver complex logistics reliably, often behind the scenes.”

Advancing Sustainable Logistics Through Drone Technology
Alongside our core shipping, haulage and freight operations, we also continued to invest in sustainable logistics solutions this year.
Working in partnership with UK autonomous aviation company Windracers, we completed one of the most ambitious autonomous delivery trials undertaken in the UK.
Over nine weeks, heavy-lift cargo drones flew more than 2,000 kilometres between Orkney’s islands, transporting medical samples, water tests, shellfish and everyday parcels. And we’re delighted to share that the trial successfully handled up to 90% of last-mile deliveries, demonstrating how autonomous aviation can support resilient, low-carbon logistics in remote and island communities.
Following on from this success, Streamline has now been confirmed as a partner in the next phase of Innovate UK’s Sustainable Aviation Test Environment, exploring the potential for a drone logistics network connecting Orkney, Shetland and other remote regions.
“What we achieved during the drone trials genuinely felt like the future arriving. It showed what is possible when technology is combined with real-world logistics experience.”
Supporting Communities and Healthcare Partners
However, beyond the everyday logistics, community support remains a core part of how we operate. And this year we were determined to do our bit where possible.
In Orkney, we provided free transport of building materials and specialist furnishings for The Peedie Retreat – a fully accessible seaside sanctuary supporting people affected by cancer, MS and MND.
We also supported NHS partners across Scotland, including transporting a specialist palliative cuddle bed to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Shetland and assisting with the installation of a Breathing Space mental health bench at FDAMH.
And internationally, we partnered with Rendall FC and University of Glasgow researchers to transport donated football kits from Orkney to Malawi, supporting rural health outreach programmes through community sport.
Looking Ahead: Building Resilient, Sustainable Island Logistics
Now, as we head into 2026, our focus stays the same.
We’ll keep strengthening our networks, developing more sustainable logistics solutions and working with partners to make transport smarter, more resilient and better for the places we serve.
