We have an immediate opportunity for a Materials / Operations Controller to join our Operations team in Aberdeen.
This is a varied operational role within our busy warehouse and logistics operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the receipt, handling, preparation and movement of goods for domestic and international shipments, ensuring freight is processed accurately, safely and within required timescales.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating incoming and outgoing goods and freight movements
- Receiving, checking and booking in goods
- Checking goods against shipping and delivery documentation
- Coordinating the preparation of freight for collection and dispatch
- Preparing and checking freight forwarding and shipping documentation
- Assisting with the preparation and processing of Dangerous Goods shipments
- Ensuring goods are correctly labelled, packaged, documented and secured for transport
- Liaising with warehouse, transport, freight forwarding and logistics teams
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies, including damaged, missing or incorrectly delivered goods
- Ensuring accurate records are maintained and operational deadlines are met
- Ensuring Company Health & Safety and Dangerous Goods procedures are followed at all times
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within freight forwarding, materials handling, shipping, transport or logistics, together with a good understanding of warehouse and shipping processes.
A valid forklift licence is preferred for this role, as the position involves the safe movement and handling of goods within the warehouse and operational areas.
Experience in the handling and processing of Dangerous Goods and knowledge of the associated documentation, labelling and packaging requirements would be highly advantageous.
You will have strong organisational and communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a busy, deadline-driven environment.
A good working knowledge of IT systems is required. Previous Dangerous Goods training/certification such as IATA, IMDG or ADR, together with a forklift licence, would be advantageous.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, with participation in the Saturday rota.
