It Manager

We are seeking an exceptional part-time IT Manager to lead our technology strategy and operations across multiple UK locations. This is a senior leadership position working closely with our executive team to drive digital transformation and ensure our technology infrastructure supports our business plans.

As our IT Manager, you will be responsible for the complete technology estate across our Glasgow, Aberdeen, Kirkwall, Shetland, and Humberside operations, managing everything from strategic planning and cyber security to hands-on infrastructure management and business systems integration.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement IT strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Author and present IT board papers to senior leadership
  • Lead Cyber Essentials Plus certification and ongoing compliance
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives across the organisation

Technical Leadership

  • Manage Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premise infrastructure across multiple sites
  • Oversee information security, including Mimecast platform, MFA deployment, and cyber awareness training
  • Design and develop EDI/API integrations for automated customer data exchange
  • Manage centralised VoIP, RDS environments, and enterprise networking

Commercial & Project Management

  • Manage IT budgets and deliver year-on-year cost savings
  • Lead contract negotiations and review all technology contracts before signature
  • Deliver complex IT projects on time and within budget
  • Manage vendor relationships and service level agreements

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in senior IT management
  • Proven track record managing IT across multiple geographical sites
  • Deep technical expertise across Microsoft 365, Azure, and enterprise infrastructure
  • Demonstrable experience with system integrations (EDI/API development)
  • Strong commercial acumen and contract negotiation skills
  • Budget management experience
  • Ability to work independently with high degree of autonomy

Desirable:

  • Experience in transport/logistics or similar operational sector
  • Microsoft certifications (Azure, M365, Security)
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent
  • Experience authoring board papers and presenting to senior leadership
